Morning doves
Sing me into the day.
I walk early
Before a punishing sun
Sends me searching for shade.

Late blooming cactus
Catches my eye.
Her red orange blossoms
Defying the heat.

Buttery yellow stamens
Beckon buzzing bees.
Clouds gather bringing
Breezes and relief.

In a turquoise pool
I float in chlorine bliss.
Aching joints soothed,
Troubled mind calmed.

Cricket chorus
Sings me into the night.
Waxing moon and silver stars
Bring happiness.
