The last day of sun took me to the waterfall by the Mendenhall Glacier. It is enough to witness the glacier, the surrounding peaks and the pussy willows just emerging. But today there was a bonus. A one horned mama goat was teaching her kid to step carefully along the steep rocky cliffs. They were just thirty feet above me. I may have walked right past them but a stone tumbled down with a clatter breaking the morning stillness.
Luckily, I had my camera with me. It is a small Lumix but it has a thirty power lens. My iPhone just wouldn?t have gotten this close. I sat on a glacier erratic and observed these two lovely creatures for over an hour. When I arrived they were resting and sunning themselves. Then they must have gotten hungry and started to work the rocks and mosses looking for yummy green shoots. I took a video too so I?ll see if that can upload to my blog post. Blessings on you as the rains have returned.
