They fish from dawn til 11 then again at dusk. Six men per net hauling up the net weighted with concrete blocks.

The nets soak about five minutes. Fishing is poor today with many tiny herring-like fish. Some red snappers in the morning.

The head man tells me it is much better during the monsoon with more seawater flushing the inlet.

Crows scavenge for a bite. Perched on a branch over a stagnant pond a flash of brilliant turquoise and orange catches my eye! An unknown bird of great beauty in the midst of it all!!
